23 Reasons to Match Your Swimsuit to Your Clothes This Summer
Over the past year, matching sets of all kinds reigned supreme. Last spring, amid lockdown orders, two-piece sweatsuits flew off the proverbial shelves of many online retailers, transforming loungewear into coordinated, effortless outfits that offered glamour with no work necessary. Matching sweats, at first, were a reprieve from stuffy office clothes and a way to get dressed in the morning, no styling required. However, after months in the look, many yearned for some semblance of normalcy in our days, and one of the few ways to feel normal again was to get dressed up. This meant opting for a luxe knitted top and skirt set from some of our favorite designers, like Proenza Schouler and Jacquemus, in lieu of elastic-waist pants.
Fast-forward to today, and we’re still loving coordinating outfits, but now we’re wearing them to the beach, pool, and sundeck. We’re shopping swimwear with matching cover-ups (like short-sleeve button-ups and pareos) and accessories (like bucket hats and headbands). It all makes for a summer look that doesn’t need to be overthought—grab your suit and its coordinating cover-up, and beach ready you are.
With the possibility of a quasi-normal summer comes the need for clothes in which we can confidently reemerge. These chic swimsuits and their matching counterparts make a case for wearing summertime’s twist on matching sets. Here, 23 reasons to consider matching swimsuits to your clothes this summer.
