Why Was ‘Pepas’ So Damn Successful?
Scream is one of the most iconic movie franchises and fans are about to get another installment. In honor of the newest horror movie, Jenna Ortega, who plays Tara Carpenter in the upcoming film, created her own villainous playlist for Instagram.
Ortega’s playlist is all about the background music she would choose if she was the villain. Who hasn’t thought about their own movie playlists? We all know that a good playlist is the way to make your day-to-day life more cinematic.
“It was cool collaborating with Instagram on this,” Ortega told Remezcla about her playlist. “I’ve always wondered what would be playing in the background if I ever portrayed a serial killer or villain in a slasher film. I honestly hope I’m able to play that role one day with Queen Latifah blasting during the scene.”
Some of the songs you can expect to hear really get to the heart of who Ortega sees herself as a villain. First up, her intro song is “Nuff’ of the Ruff Stuff” by Queen Latifah. Not only does she think it is a great opener for the playlist, Ortega is all about female empowerment and the song just speaks to her as a villain character.
“Tear You Apart” by She Wants Revenge is also on the playlist and the title seems perfect for a horror movie villain, tbh. The song keeps in line with Ortega’s idea of the final girl movement in horror movies and we totally agree.
The actress curated an awesome playlist that touches on different genres and styles because even the villain is complicated and interesting. Other picks include “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” by Lenny Kravitz, “Mystery” by John Carpenter, “Roses” by Outkast, and “Teenage Dream” by T. Rex.
Scream is in theaters today, Jan. 14. Who’s ready for a little scary date night?
